Why you need Ice Maker Repair
If you notice any of these, it is time to call:
- No ice produced at all
- Inlet valve, frozen fill tube, or the ice maker module. On dispenser-door models, a failed fill tube heater is the most common cause and an inexpensive part.
- Ice output has slowed noticeably
- A worn water filter or weak supply line pressure. A filter past its service interval can cut output in half long before it stops working entirely.
- Water overflows and freezes into a solid block
- The inlet valve is not closing fully, usually from debris lodged in the seat. Left alone, the entire mechanism eventually freezes solid.
- Ice has an off taste or looks cloudy
- Rarely a mechanical fault. An overdue filter or stagnant supply line is almost always the cause. Cloudy cubes are just trapped air releasing - we will tell you that over the phone rather than book an unnecessary visit.
- Cubes come out small or hollow
- Fill volume, controlled by the module or supply pressure. Often adjustable without replacing any parts at all.
- Undercounter unit not draining
- A blocked drain line or failed drain pump. On stand-alone units, drainage is as critical as the cooling side and fails just as often.
