Why you need Oven Repair
If you notice any of these, it is time to call:
- No heat, display looks normal
- A failed bake element or a relay on the board stuck open. The element is visible and easy to confirm, so this diagnosis is usually quick.
- Runs consistently hot or cold by a fixed amount
- The oven temperature sensor has drifted. Drift is measurable rather than a guess, and the part itself is inexpensive.
- Dead the day after running the self-clean cycle
- A thermal fuse or the control board, cooked by the extreme heat the self-clean mode produces. This is our most common oven call, which is why we recommend hand-cleaning wherever possible.
- Door won't unlock after the self-clean cycle finishes
- The door lock motor or its switch has failed. Forcing the door open breaks the latch and turns a small fix into a larger one - better to wait for the visit.
- Gas oven won't heat but stovetop burners work fine
- The oven safety valve, or an igniter too weak to draw the current needed to open it. A glowing igniter that never actually ignites the oven is the textbook version of this.
- Food browning unevenly
- The convection fan motor has failed, or one leg of a split bake element has burned open. Most people blame the recipe before they blame the oven.
